There were days when Sanyo was a name to reckon with especially when it came to domestic electronics and home appliances and with the ever growing popularity of phone use, back in 2010 there were rumors that Sanyo would be launching its flagship smartphone that would have shaken the phone market at that time. But that was never to be, and Sanyo strongly remained in producing only feature phones and with times its dominance in the consumer market died.
However there was one phone in particular that Sanyo released that at the time was one of the best smartphones in the market. The Sanyo Zio smartphone as it was called was the first smartphone from Sanyo to have Google’s Android OS as its operating system. The Sanyo Zio smartphone had the following features as well:
Design: It comes loaded with the Android 2.2 OS, and weighs in at about 3.7 ounces. It has a body dimension of 4.6 x 2.3 x 0.5 inches.
Display: The Sanyo Zio phone has a 3.5 Inched TFT WVGA Display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.
Hardware: Under the hood it packs a Single Core 600 MHz MSM7627 processor, backed by a 256 MB RAM. It also has an internal storage capacity of 512 MB which can be expanded further using a microSDHC or a microSD card.
Camera: It only has one camera on the rear which is a 3.2 MP camera.
Connectivity and Technology: In terms of connectivity, it spots a 3.5mm headphone connector, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and in terms on network technology it supports CDMA Network (800, 1900 MHz). It has the EV-DO Rev. A data transmission known as EV-DO Rev. A.
Battery: The phone’s battery can support up to 5 hours and 37 minutes of talk time.
Multimedia: It can support the following video files formats: MP4, H.264 and H.263. It can also support the following audio files formats: MP3, eAAC+, AAC+ and AAC on its music player, its photo viewer can also support the following photo files formats: PNG, JPEG, GIF and BMP, and it comes preloaded with simple games. It also has a speaker phone.
Other Features: It is generally black in color with some attractive silver colors on it.
Pros: This is an entry level smartphone and at the time of its launch it would have been classified as a middle level smartphone. It has Android OS which means the users get to benefit from its rich content and services, it has a provision for expanding memory by using microSD Card and Wi-Fi connectivity which is quite impressive considering the time at which it was produced.
Cons: It has a slow processor, small RAM size, has only the rear camera with very poor specs, its internet connectivity is quite slow.
Verdict: By now this phone can be considered outdated, and it would be suitable for individual who are comfortable with entry level smartphones. It is also the phone to go for if you have a very tight budget.
