Samsung Galaxy JSamsung Galaxy J is a new phone that so far has only been released in Taiwan, and is soon expected to spread to other parts of the world. Expert analysts have best described the Samsung Galaxy J as “The love child of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy S4”.

The initial information about the Samsung Galaxy J was first leaked by a Japanese carrier called DoCoMo in one of its catalogs. It has been referred to as a mini-phablet, and Samsung officially announce this phone on December 2013 last year and released it within the same month.

Although the Samsung Galaxy J is still a new phone in the market and not much review has been done on it to know and in depth pros and cons it has, below is a summary of some of its features:

Design: It comes in 3 colors options: Lapis Blue, Coral Pink and Satin White. Has a body dimension of 5.39×2.76×0.34 inches and weighs in at about 146 g. It runs on the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) which can be upgraded to 4.4 (KitKat).

Display: The Samsung Galaxy J has 5 Inched, Super AMOLED capacitive Touch screen Display. With a 1080×1920 pixels resolutions and a pixel density of 441. It has over 16 million spectrums of colors. Other feature include has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which makes it scratch resistant.

Hardware: Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy J is said to pack a Quad Core 2.3 GHz, Krait 400 Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor coupled by a 3 GB RAM. It has an internal storage of 16 GB which can be expanded to up to 64 GB using a microSD card.

Camera: It has a 13 MP rear- camera with 4128×3096 pixels, LED Flash, autofocus, touch focus, image stabilizer, smile detection, HDR and geo-tagging. It also has a Camcorder which can work at 2160 p @ 30 fps. It also has a front-camera with 2MP. The camera on this phone, rear- and front- are capable of dual photo shot and video recording simultaneously.

Connectivity and Technology: In terms of technology, the Samsung Galaxy J comes with GSM, HSDPA, LTE and in terms of internet connection it has GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, HSUPA, LTE. In terms of connectivity it has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11, NFC, Infrared and microUSB (USB 2.0).

Battery: It is powered by a 2600 mAh Li-Ion battery, and since it is still new in the market, its performance in terms in how many talk time and stand by time the battery can support is yet to be tried and tested to give a conclusive result.

Multimedia: It has a YouTube player, MP3 player, MP4 player, FM Radio.

Other Features: It has voice operated commands, dialing and memo. Image & video editor, organizer, Dropbox (up to 50GB capacity), air gestures, SNS integrations, predictive text input, smart scroll, smart stay and smart pause.

Pros: The Samsung J smartphone is new entrant into the market but from the features listed above, we can conclude it’s one of the best smartphone in the market.

Cons: With time consumers will be able to unravel any short-comings of this phone but of now, little to no weaknesses can be identified.

Verdict: Given it has borrowed heavily from its predecessor the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy 4, which have a track record of top performance. We can conclude, with reference to the above mentioned smart features that it’s definitely a phone worth having.
