The South Korean giant electronics manufacturer, Samsung announce the Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone back on 5th June 2013 and later released it to the consumer market on 20th June 2013. The Samsung Galaxy S4 hit the market with a lot of excitements, and all for the right reasons.
This is because Samsung Galaxy has one of the smartest features in terms of hardware and software making this phone really do some smart work. Some of these features are highlighted below:
Design: This smartphone comes with Android 4.2.2 operating system, it is water & dust proof and comes in blue, gray and orange colors. It has a body size of 5.50×2.81×0.35 inches weighing in at 151 g. On its sides it has a lock/unlock key on the right and a volume control button to the left.
Display: It has a 5 inched TFT, Multi-touch, Capacitive Display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. The pixels density on the screen is 443 ppi and has a color spectrum of 16 777 216. Other features include: scratch-resistant glass, light sensor and proximity sensor.
Hardware: Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy S4 hides a Quad Core 1900 MHz, Krait 300 Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a 2048 MB of RAM. It also has an internal storage capacity of 16 GB which can be expanded up to 64 GB by a microSDHC, microSDXC and microSD.
Camera: It is packed by an 8 MP rear camera which has other various features such as LED Flash, Autofocus, Smile detection, CMOS image sensor, White balance presets, ISO control, Exposure compensation, Panorama, Voice activation, Self-timer and scenes among others. It also features a Camcorder with 1920×1080 (1080 HD) features and a 2 MP front camera.
Connectivity and Technology: In terms of technology it has LTE, HSDPA+, HSUPA, UMTS, GPRS and EDGGE. It also has A-GPS, Glonass and GPS. And in terms of connectivity, it comes with a Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11, microUSB (USB 2.0), 3.5mm headphones connector, HDMI via microUSB, Tethering, OTA sync, Infrared, NFC, MHL and DLNA.
Battery: Samsung S4 is powered by a 2600 mAh Li-Ion battery that can support up to 17 hours of talk time, 15 hours of 3G talk time, 13.3 days (320 hours) of 3G stand-by time, 12.1(290 hours) of 4G stand-by time, 83 hours of music playback and 10 hours of video playback.
Multimedia: It has a music player which arranges you music library in terms of playlists, album and artist. It can also show album art cover, has a preset equalizer and ability to play in the background. It supports the following audio files: FLAC, AAC+, MP3, AAC, OGG and AMR. As well as supporting following formats of video files: H.263, DivX, H.264, WMV and MPEG4. It is equipped with a YouTube layer, has a good earpiece and loudspeaker sound quality.
Other Features: The Samsung S4 has an accelerometer, compass, barometer, humidity, thermometer, gyroscope, gesture, voice commands, voice recording, voice dialing and TTY/TDD.
Pros: Samsung S4 has a large display with high resolution and pixels density. Its camera is top quality, has a Quad Core processor back with lots of RAM space. It has 4G (LTE) mobile data connectivity and last but not least has a HDMI connector to TV.
Cons: With its entire smart features some users feel uncomfortable carrying around such a big phone in their pockets or in their hand bags. This is for users who want phones which can be carried around discreetly.
Verdict: The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active LTE is a superb phone if you are looking for a super computing power in a phone which is also water and dustproof.
