Philips W3500
The Philips W3500 smartphone was released in December 2013. It is a Dual SIM, Dual Standby phone that packs the following features:
Design: It comes loaded with the Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS, with a body dimension of 142 x 73.6 x 9.7 mm. It weighs in at 170 grams. It has two slots for SIM cards.
Display: It is equipped with a 5 Inched TFT Display that has the following features: can display over 16 million colors, it is capacitive, Multitouch and touchscreen. The screen has a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels with a pixel density of 196 ppi.
Hardware: Under the hood, the Philips W3500 hides a Quad Core 1.3 GHz processor, coupled with a 1 GB of RAM. It can also support external memory of up to 32 GB via a microSD Card.
Camera: It comes with a single rear camera which features a 5 MP rear camera with a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels and has got LED Flash and Geo-tagging feature. This camera has a 480@30fps recording capability.
Connectivity and Technology: In terms of network technology, the Philips W3500 supports 2G Network (GSM 850/900/1800/1900) and 3G Network (HSDPA 900/2100). In terms of data connectivity it features: GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, HSUPA, WLAN, Wi-Fi Hotspot, microUSB (USB 2.0), Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP.
Battery: In terms of battery, the Philips W3500 is powered by a 2200 mAh battery.
Multimedia: It has video playback capability which supports the following video files formats: H.263, H.264 and MP4. It also supports the following formats of audio files in its music player: WAV, eAAC+ player and MP3. It also has an FM Radio and a photo viewer.
Other Features: It has SNS integration, voice memo/ dialing, predictive text input, HTML Browser. In terms of messaging it has IM, Email Push Email, MMS and SMS threaded view. It also has an accelerometer sensor and 3.5 mm headphone connector.
Pros: It has a big phone display which will enhance the user’s experience while watching movies, playing games or typing text. It also has a fast processor and a big RAM size meaning the user will be able to run several application concurrently without the phone hanging or slowing down in operations.
Cons: The Philips W3500 is a 5 inches smartphone with only a 2200 mAh battery, this is not the best match for such a big screened phone. The battery is expected to run out of juice faster than other 5 inched smartphones in the market. It does not have front camera which essentially means the user will not be able to enjoy taking selfies, video chatting and video conferencing. It also does not have the advanced 4G LTE connection which means its internet speed although more than sufficient still leaves a lot to be desired.
Verdict: The Philip W3500 smartphone is a decent smartphone which would be recommended for a user who is looking for big sized screen but can do without front camera.
