The Archos 50 Titanium is another smartphone off from the Titanium series launched by Archos on last year’s IFA event. Like all the phones in that series, it comes with a Dual SIM, Dual Standby feature. Although most people get by just fine with one SIM card, most users prefer having a Dual SIM phone so that they can keep their private and business line separate, or have the option of using a cheaper subscriber while maintaining their regular contact. Whatever the case might be, the fact still remains that users prefer carrying a Dual SIM phone rather than carry two phones at the same time.

Design: Archos 50 Titanium comes with Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) OS. It weighs in at 160 grams and has a body dimension of 144.5 x 73.7 x 9.9 mm. The Dual SIM features has slot 1 which only supports 2G Network (GSM/ GPRS/ EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz). While SIM card slot 2 supports both 2G and 3G Network (WCDMA 900/2100).
Display: This phone features a 5 Inched IPS Display with additional features like Capacitive and Multitouch 5x. It can display more than 16 million different colors, the screen has a resolution of 960 x 540 pixel (qHD) with a pixel density of 220 ppi.
Hardware: Under the hood, Archos 50 Titanium spots a Dual Core 1.3 GHz MT 6572 chipset backed by a 512 MB of RAM. It also has a 4 GB of internal storage capacity which can be expanded further using a microSD card.
Camera: Like most smartphones, it features dual camera with its rear camera being a 5 MP camera with features which includes LED Flash, Digital Zoom and auto focus. It has a video recording capacity of 720p. On the front it has a VGA camera for taking portrait photo or selfies.
Connectivity and Technology: In terms of connectivity the Archos 50 Titanium spots a Mini SIM and Micro SIM, has Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot, DNLA and UpnP. It also has Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR. It also features a 3.5 mm headphone connector. In terms of technology, it supports 2G Network GSM/ GPRS/ EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz), 3G Network (WCDMA 900/2100) and HSDPA 2.1 Mbit/s and HSUPA 5.76 Mbit/s.
Battery: It is powered by a 2100 mAh battery. More details on how much standby time and talk time on both 2G and 3G network has not yet been established by an independent reliable source.
Multimedia: In terms of multimedia, the Archos 50 Titanium can support the following video playback video formats: 3GP/ MP4/ AVI and H.264 up to 720p resolution. In terms of audio playback, its music player can play the following audio files: OGG Vorbis, MP3, AAC+, AAC and WAV(ADPCM/ PCM). Its photo viewer can display photos in the following formats: GIF, BMP, PNG and JPEG.
Other Features: In terms of messaging it supports Email, Push Email, MMS and SMS threaded view. It also has a loudspeaker.
Pros: It has a big display suitable for watching videos, playing mobile games and fast typing. It has a sufficiently fast enough processor.
Cons: With a RAM size of 512 MB, this is a major limiting factor when it comes to multitasking and running heavy applications.
Verdict: The Archos 50 Titanium smartphone is ideal for individual who are first time users of smartphone and don’t yet demand much processing power from the phone, or individual who have a limited budget for buying a phone.
