Archos 45 Platinum
In last year’s IFA event Archos launched its Platinum series of phones which can be classified as a mid-range types of phones. They offer middle-level phone features at a very affordable prices and to top it up, all the Platinum series come with Dual SIM Dual Standby feature without compromising on any of the important specs you would expect from a mid-range smartphone.
The Archos 45 Platinum is one of those smartphones in the Platinum series. It comes packed with the following features:
Design: It has a body dimension of 142.5×71.8×9.2 mm and weighs 150g. It is a Dual SIM Dual Standby phone with SIM 1 slot supporting 2G Network (GSM/GPRS/ EDGE 900/1800/1900 MHz) while SIM 2 slot supports 3G Network (WCDMA 900/2100).
Display: It is equipped with a 4.5 Inched TFT Display that has other features like 5 point Multitouch and capacitive touchscreen. The display can showcase more than 16 million colors and has a resolution of 960×540 pixels with a pixel concentration of 244 DPI.
Hardware: Under the hood, the Archos 45 Platinum hides a Quad Core 1.2 GHz A-5 Qualcomm 8225Q processor. This is backed by a 1GB of RAM. This enables it to handle multitasking quite easily. It also has an internal storage capacity of 4GB which can be further extended up to 64 GB using a microSD card.
Camera: It is fitted with a 5 MP rear camera that has got LED flash, Digital Zoom and autofocus among other features. On the front it has a 0.3 MP camera which allows you to take selfies.
Connectivity and Technology: In terms of connectivity, it has a 3.5 mm headphone connector, microUSB (USB 2.0), Bluetooth 3.0 with EDR, A2DP and HFP. Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot, DNLA and UpnP. In terms of network technology, it supports 2G and 3G Network.
Battery: The Archos 45 is powered by a 1600 mAh battery that can keep the phone running for up to 135 hours on standby time, 8.3 hours on 2G Network and 9.8 hours on 3G talk time.
Multimedia: In terms of entertainment, it has a video playback which supports the following video formats: H.264 to 720p resolution – 30 fps/ 3GP/ MP4/ AVI. It also has music player which supports the following formats of audio files: WAV (ADPCM/PCM), MP3, OGG Vorbis, AAC + 5.1 and AAC. Its photo viewer can view photos of the following formats: BMP, PNG, GIF and JPEG.
Other Features: It comes with various sensors such as G-Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, Proximity sensor, GPS, A-GPS. In terms of alerts, it has WAV/ MP3 ringtones and vibrations. It also has a loud speaker. In terms of messaging it has Email, Push Mail, MMS and SMS threaded view.
Pros: Has a high screen resolution which will enhance the user’s experience in watching video and playing games.
Cons: The front camera is a basic camera phone, and it does not support 4G LTE technology which is set to be the world standard in terms of connectivity.
Verdict: This phone is ideal for a user who is on a limited budget but wants to buy the best of what a mid-range smartphone has to offer. The Archos 45 Platinum smartphone is one of the best mid-range smartphone in the market.
